Byron Bay Wedding Photographer

If there are two words that could sum up Jess & Craig’s Newrybar Downs Harvest Byron Bay Wedding, it would be “relaxed sophistication”.

Jess & Craig are two of the nicest humans you ever could meet.  If you don’t believe me, just ask their gigantic mountain of friends!  Jess is a huge lover of horses and dogs, hence their border collie “Dunaden” was the ring bearer at the wedding and I’m sure her horse “Blue” would have been involved also if she could have packed him in her suitcase!

Newrybar Downs was the most exquisite venue and suited the sophisticated style of Jess & Craig’s wedding perfectly.  The house was large enough for both Jess & Craig to get ready without seeing each other, which further added to the relaxed yet “electric” vibe of the morning.  At times the boys turned up the tunes LOUD to tease the girls, and the girls spied out the window to check the boys were behaving.  So fun!

Then it was out onto the rolling lawns to the most perfectly placed solo macadamia tree for the ceremony, which transfixed their guests with the beauty of the moment.

While guest enjoyed canapés we toured around the grounds for some bridal party photos.  We then headed to a couple of nearby spots with just Jess & Craig for some relaxed photos, making the most of the golden sunset and stunning hinterland scenery.

And then…. to Harvest Cafe for the big celebration!!  And what a party it was!!   The food!!  The atmosphere!!  The speeches!!  The dancing!!!  Those DONUTS!!!  Ahhhh what a night!!

Thanks again for having me on board your exquisite day Jess & Craig.  Your Newrybar Downs Harvest Byron Bay wedding was an incredible celebration of your love and commitment and I adored photographing every moment!

Lisa & James’s Secret Garden Byron Bay Wedding was an incredible summer beach wedding fiesta!!!  These two legends and most of their tribe hail from Adelaide, so it was a treat for them all to escape to a Byron Bay destination wedding.  Held on a hot, 35 degree January day (phwar!), the Bay totally turned it on and it wasn’t hard to tell “who wasn’t wearing sunscreen” by the end of the night!!!

Lisa & James are childhood sweethearts, and like most in this category they have already faced many of life’s unexpected turns together, strengthening their bond forever more.  The sweetest of sweet couples, their wedding was vibrant, super relaxed and oh so fun!!

I especially adored the colourful flowers by Alstonville Florist (can you spot the pineapples in the bouquets?), which worked so well with Lisa’s “fuschia pink” lipstick and the “sand” coloured bridesmaid gowns.  I also loved that Lisa & James’s 2 “fur babies” weren’t to be forgotten either, making an appearance (of sorts) at the reception!  A rendition of the “Haka” was a surprise performance by two Maori friends later in the evening, which was so powerful I had tears in my eyes.

The Secret Garden Byron Bay was the perfect reception venue for these guys.   In the heart of Byron it has such a fantastic creative vibe featuring colourful murals by David Bromley throughout (that old bus!!).   The Events Lounge were also brilliant in working their magic to make sure everything ran without a hitch from start to finish.

Looking back on the images from Amy & Pete’s Victoria’s at Ewingsdale Byron Bay Wedding , I’m struck by the emotion clearly evident on their faces throughout the day.  The early nerves and excitement leading up to the ceremony, Pete’s tears as Amy walked down the aisle.  Then the pure unabated happiness, relief and joy in finally being able to call each other “husband and wife”.  No surprise they were so happy, when you find out the “back story”.   Pete has done not one but 2 tours of Iraq while Amy waited patiently for his return.  Thankfully she had their gorgeous pug “Sunny” to keep her company!!

Amy & Pete’s number one wish was for their wedding day to be super SUPER chilled.  With a moderate number of guests, no bridal party and a very quick ceremony, the emphasis was on soaking up the stunning grounds of Victoria’s at Ewingsdale Byron Bay while enjoying scrummy food and the company of their closest family & friends.  Let me tell you, they absolutely nailed it.  We went off site for a couple of photos, again with the emphasis on candid, natural shots.  Both Amy & Pete were surprised to comment later how much they appreciated a little “time out” for the two of them to soak up their new titles of “Mr & Mrs”.  But there was plenty of time to party on with lots of moves on the d-floor!!

What a gorgeous day to be a part of.  Congratulations once again Amy & Pete on your stunning celebration of love!!
